San Diego Mesa College’s swim and diving teams for both men and women are recruiting for the spring 2017 competitive season, starting Jan. 3 with a month of cardio conditioning during winter intersession.

As part of this semester’s costume making class, students enrolled in Drama 200 have been making dresses to be donated to the Little Dresses for Africa charity organization that helps to clothe children living in 81 countries in and around Africa.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year, and San Diego Mesa College’s culinary students spent one of their final weeks of classes for the semester busily finishing their gingerbread houses for an annual competition on Dec. 6.

San Diego Community College District announced that it will be expanding its San Diego Promise program from 200 students to 800 students for the 2017-2018 college academic year during a press conference at San Diego Mesa College on Dec. 6.

Wearing Flora boards, neo pixels, fiber optic filaments and other electrical elements, models will literally light up the stage during San Diego Mesa College’s first on-campus fashion show in the LRC Wednesday, Dec. 7 at 5 p.m.

Featuring original art made by students, San Diego Mesa College’s fall semester Student Art Gallery Exhibit will open with a reception and art sale on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 4 to 7 p.m. in room D-101.

This season, several San Diego Mesa College athletic teams made it to the California Community College Athletic Association playoffs.

In an effort to decrease the effects of poverty, hunger and homelessness for students on campus, San Diego Mesa College is opening “The Stand” – a new space that will provide students with essential items for everyday life.

Once it is in full operation during the spring semester, students will be able to pick up three items per week from The Stand food pantry and professional clothing closet on the third floor of the Student Services building.
