The Certificate of Achievement in Fermentation Management focuses on retail sales and service industries. Classes prepare students for multiple careers and/or to transfer to a four-year program in viticulture, enology, distilling, engineering or hospitality.

For over five years, San Diego Mesa College has been offering Summer CRUISE—Creating Rich Unique Intellectual Student Experiences – for incoming students. This summer, Mesa offered six CRUISE sessions from June – August. Sessions are completely free and available to recent high school graduates and those who are first-time or returning college students.

The San Diego Mesa College Math and Science Complex (MS) will once again host the annual Mesa College Research Conference (MCRC) on Friday, May 10, at 8:30am-1pm. This year’s conference will showcase student research across multiple disciplines and provide students the opportunity to present their research in poster format to academics, professionals, fellow students and the community. Some highlighted research methods include quantitative (statistical) and qualitative, data collection and using existing data or sources, and testing hypotheses to generate theses.

San Diego Mesa College will host their 38th Annual Golden Scissors Awards and Fashion Show at the Sheraton Hotel and Marina on Friday, May 3rd 2019. This year’s theme is Forces of Fashion which features designs and clothing created by Mesa Fashion Design students. This event, produced by fashion promotion students, attracts crowds of approximately 700 fashion-minded community members each year.

Mesa College Dance will be presenting Dance Synthesis: An evening of Dance and Entertainment. This spring 2019 dance concert, held nightly at 7:30pm on April 18-20, features an all student choreographed performance at the Joan B. Kroc Theatre at the Salvation Army Kroc Center in San Diego. See Mesa College’s talented dancers take to the stage with energy, passion, and enthusiasm as they perform original choreography created by our student dance makers, including Mesa alumni Chelsea Roquero.

When Mesa Alumna Hasti Ahmadi first emigrated from Iran to start her college journey at Mesa in Spring 2015, she had no idea what field she wanted to pursue. After taking several courses, including architecture, she decided to make architecture her course of study. Her newfound passion, along with guidance from the Architecture faculty and Counseling Department, led Ahmadi to complete all requirements to transfer to University of California, Berkeley.

On Wednesday, March 13, 2019, Mesa College held the Grand Opening of the newly remodeled Fine Arts Building. The redesigned building includes an art gallery, an art history lecture room; studios for drawing, digital graphics, sculpture, ceramics and painting; and workshop spaces to support the shared used of art equipment, material, and supply resources.
